Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we hire you?
The short answer is because we care about you and the success of your event. We love what we do and we hope our passion is infectious to you and your guests. Our goal is to work with you to create a celebration that is uniquely yours while relieving much of the stress and anxiety of the planning process. We want you to relax and enjoy your day!
Is your company insured?
Yes, we carry 2 million dollars in liability insurance.
Is your company licensed?
Yes, Starlight Games & DJ Services carries the Connect license which is required to play copy written material in Canada legally.
Do you belong to any organizations?
Yes, we are a proud member of the Canadian Disc Jockey Association.
We are also one of only five approved vendors for the Thames Valley District School Board.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we require a $200 deposit for events booked more than six weeks out.
Do you take requests?
Yes, keeping guests happy is very important to us and if the request makes sense, we will play it at the appropriate time.
Do you provide a written contract?
Yes, you will receive a written contract when you decide we are the right choice for your event and wish to secure our services.
Do you have packages?
No, we have given this careful thought and decided that our business model (unlike much of our competition) is based on service and not products. We do not nickel and dime our customers on upgrades. Our quoted price is for our time and if a client requires extra equipment, and it's available, we will simply bring to the venue free of charge.
What events do you specialize in?
We take every event seriously and give it 100% of our attention. However due to the nature of Weddings we go the extra mile to ensure a perfect day!
Can you handle MC responsibilities?
Yes, we are very comfortable speaking in-front of crowds to help keep the event moving forward. We do not charge extra for this service.
How do you motivate people to dance?
This can be tricky. Some crowds will dance to just about any music played and others won't dance regardless. The goal is for everyone to have a good time. We have done numerous events where there was very little dancing, but people were bopping in their chairs, tapping toes, waving arms, and singing along. We can't make anybody dance if they don't want to, however we can encourage them with some group activities or playing their favourite songs.
How far in advance should we book?
The earlier the better, especially during wedding season. However there is always the odd gap in our schedule and we try to accommodate last minute bookings as best we can.
Do you provide a song list?
If you request it. We will work with you to put together a list that will keep you and your guests entertained throughout the entire event. We will also use your list if you provide one. We have access to over 26 million songs so very little is out of reach.
Do you take breaks?
No, we do not need breaks, unless you require one as part of the event program. We will keep the music going non-stop right to the end.
Do you require food or alcohol to be provided?
We do not expect to be fed at your event. We are there to do a job, not eat or drink. Having said that, we also don't want to be rude and will partake in a buffet only if invited to, and only after all the guests have eaten.
We have a strict rule, no alcohol before or during an event!
How much time do you need to setup?
We arrive minimum 1 hour prior to when music is required to start playing and are usually ready to go within 30 minutes.
What if you have to cancel?
We have never canceled an event. We will make every attempt to ensure the show goes on. In a worst case situation, we have a DJ pool that we can rely on to ensure you are not left stranded.
What is your dress code?
We dress in a professional manner. However our goal is to never up-stage the host(s). We have and are willing to dress in costumes for themed events to show good spirit and fun!
